| This project began with the article ‘Card Tricks’
by David Owen in the April 19, 2004 issue of The
New Yorker. I was interested in the functions of greeting cards
as small tokens of affection and as a medium for exchange, and in
their generic and yet overly-sentimental qualities. The three booklets
consist of the article by Owen and a series of greeting card messages.
Each booklet treats the same content differently: from book one to
three, there is a progression towards reduction and distortion of
language. Fall 2005 |
